Dr. Arthur Thurm is one of the few general dentists in the country who is also a Certified Dental Anesthesiologist. For more than 35 years, he has helped patients with dental phobias, special needs, and dementia receive the dental care they need while comfortably sedated. Other dentists in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware now send their difficult patients to Dr. Thurm for treatment.
Dr. Thurm earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1977. He completed a one-year general practice residency at the Philadelphia Veterans Administration Hospital in 1978, and then completed a one-year residency in Anesthesiology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In 1980, Dr. Thurm became a Fellow of the America Dental Society of Anesthesiology. There are fewer than 250 general dentists in the country with this distinction. Dr. Thurm holds a permit from the State of New Jersey (#473) certifying his training and for two years, he taught dental and medical students how to administer anesthesia in operating rooms. In 2002, he became board-certified by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Thurm is a Diplomate with the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and a member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, and Southern New Jersey Dental Society. He has served the New Jersey, Delaware and Philadelphia communities from his dental office in Collingswood, NJ for more than three decades.
